Jessica has been a professional mermaid & special effects artist for over a decade. Danielle has been handcrafting butterfly wing earrings for just as long. Together our adventure took flight somewhere between the ocean and the open sky — and it landed right here in Key West. 🏝️
We didn't set out to start a jewelry brand. We just never stopped making things — collecting beads from thrift stores and yard sales, preserving wings, drilling shells on the porch in Key West, making earrings on the beach under the palm trees. At some point, our friends started asking where they could buy what we were making, and The Mermaid & The Butterfly was born.
From the sea to the sky, every piece is ours, and then it's yours. 🌊🦋

Real butterfly wings, preserved from butterflies that lived their full, natural lives at a sanctuary in South America — laminated by hand and paired with vintage & thrifted beads collected over twenty years. Each pair is one of a kind.

No two shells are alike, and neither are the pieces we make from them. Hand-gathered along the Florida Keys, hand-drilled on the porch, and paired with beads from a collection twenty years in the making. After all, every mermaid needs to carry a little bit of the sea with her on land.
